Many police and sheriff's departments now have websites listing all persons for whom arrest warrants have been issued. If this is true for the jurisdiction you wish to check, simply visit the site, perform a search and, if you find a warrant, decide what to do. But if no website exists, then what?
If you fail to show up for a court hearing, a bench warrant is issued, while criminal warrants are issued when police have probable cause to believe you committed a crime. Warrants are issued by federal, state or county agencies and appear in the database of that agency. If you suspect a warrant exists, you will probably have some idea of where to look for it.

If you find a warrant and know what it's about, you can go to the police and take care of it, perhaps retaining a lawyer to represent you. The police and courts may be more sympathetic if you appear voluntarily, so you may want to take the time to clear the matter up.
And if you find a warrant you know nothing about, you will still need to face it sooner or later. If you appear voluntarily, it shows the police and courts you are willing to resolve the matter. This may reflect favorably on the outcome, especially if it is a case of identity theft or unpaid fines that you are now prepared to pay.
If you have low income and believe a criminal warrant exists, visit the public defender's office in the area where the warrant was issued. If you suspect that a bench warrant exists, contact the legal aid society for assistance. Either agency can help you discover if warrants exist and, if so, what you can do about it.
